ATP Young Guns

Following the Top 100 players aged 23 and under on the ATP Tour.

About

There’s no shortage of articles about the Big Four, ranging from “Will Federer ever retire or will he be the first Grand Slam champion to play with a walker?” to “Who can possibly stop Nadal on clay? A unicorn?” But, as the Big Four transcend into its 30s (or late 30s, I’m looking at you, Roger), making them ancient in the tennis world, who will be the next players to take home tennis’ most elusive trophies?

ATP Young Guns is a blog focused on up-and-coming players aged 23 and younger who are ranked within the Top 100. This blog will follow this ever-changing roster of young talents who are hoping to break into the Top 10, and ultimately replace the likes of Djokovic, Federer, Murray and Nadal.

Why am I writing about this and even more importantly, why should you listen to me? After being told I was too tall to be a figure skater (5’6″ at 13 years old is shocking, apparently) I switched to tennis to continue being physically active. Somehow this hobby got me a scholarship to a DI college, and then a DII one after that. Now that I’ve graduated, I’m the sports editor for a weekly newspaper in Bedford, Va., and keeping tabs on the professionals. I’d say I know the game a little bit and can offer some input beyond the usual facts and figures… with humor.
